What Are Cannabinoids?

Many patients have asked our budtenders about the chemical compounds that act as the principles of cannabis. Cannabinoids are a class of diverse chemical compounds that act on the cannabinoid receptors in the cells. The most notable cannabinoid is the tetrahydrocannabinol (TCH) which is the primary psychoactive compound of cannabis. There is also cannabidiol (CBD), which is another major constituent of the plant that does not have psychoactive properties, but promotes healing properties.

There are also at least 85 other different cannabinoids isolated from cannabis which all exhibit various effects. A few conditions that science has proven cannabinoids are therapeutically against are: Arthritis, Cancer, Crohn’s Disease, Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s Disease, Migraines, Sleeplessness, Anorexia, Stress, Chronic Pain, Depression, Anxiety, and many others.
